19-yr-old dies after eating 'shawarma' at stall in Mumbai

Two street food vendors, Anand Kamble and Ahmed Sheikh, were apprehended by Mumbai police following the demise of a 19-year-old, Prathamesh Bhokse, who succumbed after consuming chicken shawarma from their stall in Trombay on May 3rd. Bhokse initially experienced stomach ache and vomiting, prompting him to seek medical assistance at a nearby municipal hospital. Despite receiving treatment and being discharged, his health continued to deteriorate, leading to his admission to KEM Hospital, where he passed away on May 5th. Hospital authorities alerted the authorities, resulting in an FIR being filed against unidentified individuals under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Separately, twelve individuals were hospitalized in Goregaon over the span of two days due to suspected food poisoning after consuming non-vegetarian street food, specifically chicken shawarma, at Satellite Tower in Santosh Nagar. While nine individuals have been discharged, three remain under medical care. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation officials are investigating the incident, although details about the source of the food consumed by the affected individuals have not been disclosed.
