Adani International Container Terminal achieves a milestone as the inaugural terminal to process more than 3 lakh containers within a month.

In November, Adani International Container Terminal Private Limited (AICTPL), a joint venture at Adani Ports and SEZ in Mundra, has set a historic record by becoming the initial terminal in India to process 300,000 containers in a month. Describing it as a notable achievement, the company highlighted the significance for APSEZ and emphasized its importance in the annals of Indian maritime history in an official filing.

The terminal set a national record in November 2023 by processing 300,431 TEUs across 97 vessels, surpassing its own previous record of 298,634 TEUs in March 2021. This achievement involved handling an average of around 10,000 TEUs daily. TEUs, representing 'twenty-foot equivalent unit,' measure volume in units of twenty-foot long containers. Adani Ports shares recently traded 4.45% higher at Rs 864.40. The stock has gained nearly 5% year-to-date (YTD) and 17% over the past six months. As of September 2023, promoters held a 65.53% stake in the Adani Group firm.

Furthermore, two other ports within APSEZ, namely Dhamra and Ennore, also marked their highest monthly volumes, handling 3.96 MMT and 65,658 TEUs, respectively. APSEZ experienced a substantial 42% year-on-year surge in cargo volumes, reaching 36 MMT. The company reported growth across all three primary cargo categories: dry bulk (over 60% YoY), containers (over 26%), and liquids and gas (over 23%).

Adani Ports and SEZ successfully managed 275 MMT of cargo in the initial eight months of FY24 (April to November), reflecting a 21% YoY increase. This accomplishment represents over 70% of the upper end of its full-year guidance range of 370-390 MMT, as stated by the company.

APSEZ emphasized that this achievement not only solidifies the company and Mundra port's leadership position in the maritime industry but also underscores its operational efficiency.
