BJP Secures Victory in Rajasthan Assembly Elections 2023: Speculation Rises Over Potential Chief Minister Candidates

In the aftermath of the Rajasthan Assembly elections, where the BJP exceeded expectations by winning 115 out of 200 seats, attention is now on the potential candidates for the chief ministerial position. Despite not projecting a specific CM face during the elections, several individuals are rumored to be frontrunners, according to news agency ANI.

Among the top contenders are former chief minister Vasundhara Raje, victorious Mahant Balak Nath from the Tijara constituency, Rajasthan BJP chief CP Joshi, and Union Minister Gajendra Shekhawat, as reported by ANI, citing sources.

Vasundhara Raje, a two-time former CM, secured her seat from Jhalrapatan with a significant margin. Mahant Balaknath, a spiritual leader and Alwar MP, won from Tijara. Diya Kumari, who triumphed in the Vidhyadhar Nagar seat, is also considered a strong contender. CP Joshi, the current head of the BJP's state unit, and Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat are also in the running.

Despite earlier consideration, Rajendra Rathore, the Leader of the Opposition, lost in the elections. The BJP, having won 115 seats, is poised to form the government in the Rajasthan Assembly. The Congress secured 68 seats, with one seat still undecided. The state went to polls on November 25, with the majority mark set at 100. The BJP's victory marks a significant outcome in the Rajasthan Assembly elections of 2023.
