Breaking News from Mumbai: Immediately after ending his protest, Maratha quota leader Manoj Jarange met with CM Eknath Shinde and ended his hunger strike.

Live Updates on Maratha Quota Protest: Saturday morning saw Chief Minister Eknath Shinde of Maharashtra offering Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange Patil a glass of juice, symbolizing the end of Patil’s hunger strike over the reservation issue. The two leaders later addressed a joint rally in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, celebrating their success. Patil had threatened to lead a march into Mumbai unless the Maharashtra government amended its free education policy to encompass all Marathas. However, he called off the protest early Saturday after Chief Minister Shinde accepted their demand. The Maharashtra government had released a draft ordinance on Friday night in response to Patil's requests, following deliberations and meetings convened by CM Shinde with officials. Patil had earlier warned of marching towards Mumbai if the government didn't issue a Government Resolution regarding the Maratha quota and urged the withdrawal of all cases registered against protestors demanding Maratha reservation.
