Communal Unrest Erupts in Mumbai's Mira Road After Ram Mandir Inauguration: Investigations, Arrests, and Government Action Follow

Communal unrest persisted for a second consecutive day in Mumbai's Mira Road following the inauguration of the Ram Mandir, escalating tensions between two communities. A viral video documented clashes, including an attack on an auto-rickshaw and the vandalization of shops and vehicles. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Jayant Bajbale, initiated an investigation into the incident, which unfolded near the Naya Nagar area prior to the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha.

An independent news outlet shared a video portraying the clashes, revealing a mob attacking an auto-rickshaw and targeting establishments of other communities in a renewed outbreak of violence related to the Ram Temple. Deputy Commissioner Jayant Bajbale reported that the conflict arose when individuals from the Hindu community raised slogans in the Naya Nagar area of Mira Road.

In the midst of the chaos, a victim of the violence reported, "The attackers forced me to chant religious slogans," according to TimesNow. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis issued a stern warning against rioters, resulting in the demolition of "illegal" constructions in Mumbai.

Regarding the Mira Road incident, Fadnavis stated, "I took detailed info on what happened in Naya Nagar... Police were instructed to take strictest action against the culprits. 13 have been arrested so far, and detailed analysis of CCTV footage is underway." He emphasized zero tolerance for those attempting to disrupt law and order in Maharashtra.

In response to the clashes, 13 individuals have been arrested, and investigations are ongoing using CCTV footage to identify others involved. BJP MLA Nitesh Rane criticized the police for perceived inaction, expressing concerns about the safety of the Hindu community. The Mira Bhaindar Municipal Corporation deployed bulldozers to demolish "illegal" roadside stalls in Naya Nagar, aligning with Fadnavis's warning of strict measures against rioters.

Addressing stone-pelting incidents during the Ram Mandir celebrations, the Maharashtra government deployed bulldozers to clear encroachments in the affected area, emphasizing a zero-tolerance approach. Local police issued warnings against the spread of objectionable content on social media. Additional Commissioner of Police Shrikant Pathak appealed for peace, assuring that the investigation would focus solely on the accused. Authorities are actively investigating and taking decisive actions against those responsible for the violence surrounding the Ram Mandir inauguration in Mira Road.
