Eight dead and 23 injured in collision between goods vehicle and truck in Chhattisgarh's Bemetara

In Chhattisgarh's Bemetara district, tragedy struck on Sunday night when a goods vehicle collided with a parked mini-truck, resulting in the loss of eight lives, including five women and three children, while 23 others sustained injuries. The fatal incident occurred as the victims were returning from a family gathering. The collision with the stationary truck took place on the roadside, as reported by the police.

The injured, totaling 23, were swiftly transported to nearby medical facilities for urgent treatment. Among them, four critically wounded individuals were later transferred to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Raipur for advanced care, according to police authorities.

Meanwhile, investigations into the circumstances leading to the collision are ongoing, with further details yet to be disclosed.

This tragic event in Chhattisgarh echoes a recent similar occurrence that unfolded earlier in the week along the Lucknow-Agra expressway near Thathiya in Kannauj district. In that incident, a Delhi-bound bus collided head-on with a truck, resulting in the deaths of four individuals, while 34 others sustained various degrees of injuries. The collision was of such force that both vehicles overturned, leaving a trail of devastation in its wake, according to police reports.

These incidents serve as sobering reminders of the importance of road safety and the need for stringent measures to prevent such tragic accidents from occurring in the future.
