Ellyse Perry's impressive six causes car window damage, RCB player's response gains attention in WPL.

In a gripping encounter at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Ellyse Perry showcased her remarkable form for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) against UP Warriorz in a Women's Premier League (WPL) game. The match witnessed an onslaught of powerful hitting from the RCB batters, spearheaded by skipper Smriti Mandhana and the versatile all-rounder Ellyse Perry. Their dynamic partnership led RCB to a formidable total of 198 for three in their allotted 20 overs.

To break free from a two-match losing streak, RCB took a strategic decision to promote S Meghana to the opening slot alongside Mandhana, replacing Sophie Devine. This move proved to be successful as Meghana and Mandhana swiftly accumulated 51 runs in just 5.3 overs, setting a solid foundation for the team's innings. Mandhana, in collaboration with Perry, continued the onslaught, adding 95 runs off only 64 balls for the second wicket, exploiting the early advantage gained during the Power Play.

Mandhana's elegant strokeplay, coupled with Perry's aggressive batting, kept the UP Warriorz bowlers under constant pressure. Perry's ability to dispatch the ball to all parts of the ground, particularly her dominance over spinners, was evident as she unleashed a flurry of boundaries and sixes. However, Mandhana's innings was cut short when her slog-sweep off Deepti Sharma found the hands of Poonam Khemnar at deep mid-wicket, momentarily quieting the fervent RCB supporters.

Despite the setback, Perry, supported by Richa Ghosh, continued to pile on the runs, adding 42 runs off just 18 balls for the third wicket, further bolstering RCB's total. Perry's exceptional hitting even led to an unexpected event, as one of her sixes shattered the window of a display car nearby, adding a touch of spectacle to the match.

Meanwhile, UP Warriorz suffered a blow as Vrinda Dinesh was ruled out of the remainder of the WPL due to a shoulder injury. In response, they signed Uma Chetry as a replacement, a talented wicket-keeper batter who recently showcased her skills in matches against England A and in the ACC Emerging Women's Asia Cup 2023. RCB also made a change to their lineup, bringing in veteran Ekta Bisht in place of the injured Shreyanka Patil.
