Former Mumbai North MP Sanjay Nirupam alleges that the Congress expelled him for six years immediately after they received his resignation letter

Former Congress MP Sanjay Nirupam recently commented on his expulsion from the party, suggesting that it was orchestrated soon after he submitted his resignation letter. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge approved Nirupam's expulsion for six years, citing complaints of indiscipline and anti-party statements.

Nirupam, who previously served as Mumbai Congress chief, expressed dissatisfaction with the party's decision to concede the Mumbai North West Lok Sabha constituency to the Shiv Sena. This decision came during seat-sharing discussions within the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Following his criticism of the Maharashtra Congress leadership and the Shiv Sena's influence, Nirupam's name was removed from the list of star campaigners by the Congress. In response, he criticized the party's handling of its financial crisis and urged prioritizing resources for self-preservation.

Nirupam emphasized the need for the Congress leadership to resist pressure from the Shiv Sena, warning that acquiescing to their decisions in Mumbai could lead to the party's downfall. He also highlighted his past association with the Shiv Sena before joining the Congress and his advocacy for north Indian hawkers.

Despite his expulsion and electoral setbacks in the past, Nirupam remains a vocal critic within political circles, particularly concerning intra-party dynamics and alliance strategies.
