HD Revanna has filed a petition in court seeking anticipatory bail regarding the sexual abuse case.

Additional State Public Prosecutor BN Jagadeesha has been appointed as a Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) to prosecute the case.

HD Revanna, a Janata Dal (Secular) leader and member of the Karnataka legislative assembly, has sought anticipatory bail in a sexual abuse case involving his son, Prajwal Revanna, who is a Lok Sabha member from Hassan. The Special Court has issued notice to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) handling the case and scheduled a hearing for May 3.

The court's order mentioned that while the alleged offenses against HD Revanna are bailable, the SIT is seeking permission to add rape charges, pending approval from the jurisdictional court. HD Revanna moved the court after receiving a notice from the SIT, and his lawyer informed the court about filing an interim bail application along with the anticipatory bail plea.

The case stems from the circulation of over 2,900 videos on social media depicting the sexual abuse of multiple women, allegedly involving Prajwal Revanna. He has faced a first information report (FIR) under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) following a complaint from one of the victims. Prajwal Revanna, who is currently not in Bangalore, has requested more time through his lawyers to appear before the SIT.

Amidst the controversy, HD Revanna's political party, JD(S), has suspended Prajwal Revanna. A Special Public Prosecutor has been appointed to handle the case, which is being investigated by a senior IPS officer-led SIT.
