In the Thailand Masters Badminton event, Kidambi Srikanth was defeated by Mithun Manjunath.

In the Thailand Masters Badminton tournament in Bangkok, there were mixed results for Indian players on Thursday. The sixth-seeded women's doubles pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini  Ponnappa with a score of 21-15 24-22. Their next challenge will be against the fourth-seeded Indonesian pair Febriana  Dwipuji Kusuma and Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi.

However, in the men's singles category, the former world no.1 Kidambi Srikanth faced an unexpected setback as he was defeated by his lower-ranked compatriot Mithun Manjunath in a hard-fought round of 16 match. Manjunath, the current national champion ranked 63rd globally, secured a three-game victory with a scoreline of 21-9 13-21 21-17. Despite the defeat, Srikanth's conqueror, Manjunath, along with Ashmita Chaliha in the women's singles, progressed to the quarterfinals.

In the women's singles, Ashmita secured her place in the next round by overcoming Chinese Taipei's Yu Po Pai in a closely contested match with a score of 21-12 15-21 21-17. On the contrary, Malvika Bansod faced an early exit in the women's singles category, losing to local shuttler Busanan Ongbamrungphan in the pre-quarters with a scoreline of 22-24 7-21.

Meanwhile, in the men's singles draw, S Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian, a qualifier, experienced a disappointing end to his journey in the tournament, losing convincingly to Chinese Taipei's Chun-Yi Lin with a score of 9-21 11-21.

Looking ahead, Mithun Manjunath is set to face Netherlands' Mark Caljouw in the quarterfinal round, promising further excitement in the ongoing Thailand Masters Badminton competition.
