Key Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra for the 2024 elections range from Baramati to Mumbai North.

The 2024 Lok Sabha election schedule has been released, with voting for 543 parliamentary constituencies set to occur in seven phases starting on April 19 and concluding on June 1, with results announced on June 4. Maharashtra, the state with the second-largest number of Lok Sabha seats after Uttar Pradesh, will conduct voting in five phases from April 19 to May 20. Specifically, voting in Maharashtra will take place on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, and May 20, with all six parliamentary constituencies in Mumbai participating in the fifth phase. The state has 9.2 crore voters, including over 50,000 centenarians, marking a 34 lakh increase from 2019, according to PTI.

During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 23 seats in Maharashtra, while its former ally Shiv Sena won 18 seats. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Sharad Pawar won 4 seats, with Congress and AIMIM each obtaining one seat, and an Independent candidate claiming one seat.

Here's a glimpse of key Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra:

1. Baramati:

Historically supporting Sharad Pawar and his family, this constituency faces a unique scenario as Ajit Pawar, Sharad Pawar's nephew, has rebelled and aligned with the Shiv Sena-BJP government led by Eknath Shinde. Three-time MP Supriya Sule faces competition from Ajit Pawar's wife Sunetra this time.

2. Nagpur:

A stronghold for BJP's Nitin Gadkari, who is also a Union Minister, and the home turf of Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, Nagpur was previously held by Congress' Vilas Muttemwar before Gadkari's victories.

3. Kalyan:

Shrikant Shinde, son of CM Eknath Shinde, won from this seat representing Shiv Sena. The constituency comprises six Assembly segments, with varying party affiliations.

4. Bhandara-Gondia:

Considered significant due to former MP Praful Patel's role in Ajit Pawar's rebellion, BJP's Sunil Mendhe is the current MP.

5. Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg:

Shiv Sena's Vinayak Raut won in recent elections amidst regional agitations against certain industrial projects.

6. Mumbai South and Mumbai North:

Represented by Arvind Sawant and Gopal Shetty respectively, both seats witness prominent political competition.

7. Nanded and Beed:

Nanded has been a stronghold for Ashok Chavan's family and Beed for late Gopinath Munde's daughter Pritam Munde.

These key constituencies reflect the diverse political landscape and notable figures in Maharashtra's upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
