Maharashtra Chief Minister Announces Toll-Free Mumbai Coastal Road, Sets Ambitious Completion Targets for Key Infrastructure Projects
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has declared that the Mumbai coastal road linking Marine Drive to the Bandra Worli Sea Link (BWSL) will not have toll charges. This decision comes in response to earlier reports suggesting a proposed minimum toll of ₹250 on the Mumbai Trans Harbor Link (MTHL) and the coastal road projects. Shinde announced that the initial phase of the coastal road, including the undersea tunnel between Worli and Marine Drive, will be accessible to the public by January 31. The complete coastal road project is expected to be finished by May 31, providing a toll-free and efficient route for commuters. Shinde highlighted the significance of the Mumbai Trans Harbor Link (MTHL), also known as Atal Setu, connecting Sewri in Mumbai to Nhava Sheva in Uran taluka, Raigad district, at a cost of ₹18,000 crore. The project aims to reduce travel time between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai from 2 hours to just 20 minutes, offering relief from traffic congestion for Mumbai residents
