PM Narendra Modi will strive to secure the hosting rights for the 2036 Olympics in India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed the Indian government's commitment to positioning India as a leading sporting nation, emphasizing efforts to host the 2036 Olympics and the 2029 Youth Olympics in the country. Speaking at the inauguration of the Khelo India Youth Games 2023 in Chennai, he outlined the goal of making India a central hub in the global sports ecosystem, recognizing sports as a significant economic activity capable of generating employment.

Modi highlighted the transformative changes occurring in India's sports system, with a focus on providing international exposure to young athletes. He projected that the sports industry in India could reach around 1 lakh crore in the coming years, emphasizing the positive impact on the youth. The Prime Minister assured that the sports economy would play a substantial role in achieving his commitment to making India the third-largest economy within the next five years.

Over the past decade, the government has prioritized sports ancillaries and skill development for aspiring sports professionals. Modi stressed the importance of expanding sports equipment manufacturing and services, along with creating opportunities for professionals in sports science, innovation, coaching, and psychology.

Addressing the youth gathered at the Khelo India Youth Games, Modi commended their energy and enthusiasm, recognizing them as representatives of a dynamic and new India making strides in the world of sports. He expressed joy in hosting the Games in Chennai, highlighting the significance of showcasing the spirit of "Ek Bharat, Shreshtra Bharath" (One India, Best India).

The Khelo India Youth Games 2023, focusing on grassroots sports development and nurturing emerging talent, marked its first-ever edition in South India. Spread across four cities in Tamil Nadu, namely Chennai, Madurai, Trichy, and Coimbatore, the Games took place from January 19 to 31, providing a platform for young athletes to display their skills and contribute to the nation's sporting landscape.
