Post Ashok Chavan's departure, Congress relies on these 5 Maharashtra leaders.

Besides Ashok Chavan, the Congress has been hit by twin exits of Milind Deora and Baba Siddique in recent times

After the departure of key leaders like Ashok Chavan, Milind Deora, and Baba Siddique, the Congress party in Maharashtra is strategizing its approach for the upcoming 2024 elections. With a focus on retaining relevance and securing a significant presence in the state's political landscape, the party is relying on the leadership of the following prominent figures:

1. **Prithviraj Chavan**: Having succeeded Ashok Chavan as Maharashtra's Chief Minister amidst the Adarsh Housing Society scam, Prithviraj Chavan brings both administrative experience and national-level exposure, having served as a Union Minister in the UPA government.

2. **Balasaheb Thorat**: As the Congress Legislative Party leader in the Maharashtra assembly and a seasoned politician with eight successful assembly election victories, Thorat's leadership is crucial in navigating the state's political terrain.

3. **Nana Patole**: A four-time legislator with a significant electoral track record, including a victory over NCP heavyweight Praful Patel, Patole's return to the Congress and his role as the Speaker underscores his importance in the party's plans.

4. **Vijay Wadettiwar**: As the Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra assembly, Wadettiwar's presence ensures a strong voice for the Congress party, particularly from the Vidarbha region, where his political career has flourished.

5. **Varsha Gaikwad**: A seasoned politician and the first woman president of Mumbai Congress, Gaikwad's leadership brings a fresh perspective and represents the party's commitment to gender diversity and grassroots mobilization.

These leaders collectively represent the Congress party's efforts to consolidate its position and offer a formidable challenge to the saffron alliance in Maharashtra, particularly as it gears up for the crucial 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
