Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) extensive campaign in Maharashtra with a rally in Chandrapur today.

PM Narendra Modi will address a massive rally in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district, commencing the Lok Sabha campaign in the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a public rally in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district on Monday, April 8, marking the beginning of Lok Sabha election campaigning for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state. This rally is part of a series of at least 10 rallies that Modi plans to hold across Maharashtra, starting with Chandrapur on April 8.

During his visit, Modi will be supporting Sudhir Mungantiwar, the BJP's candidate from Chandrapur and the current forest, cultural affairs, and fisheries minister of Maharashtra under Eknath Shinde's cabinet. Mungantiwar's main opponent from the Congress party is Pratibha Dhanorkar, widow of the late Balu Dhanorkar who was the previous MP from Chandrapur.

The BJP aims to conduct Modi's rallies in constituencies where they anticipate strong opposition challenges. Following his rally in Chandrapur, Modi is set to return to Maharashtra on April 14 for another rally in Ramtek.

Sudhir Mungantiwar expressed that Modi's visit will provide an opportunity for interaction with the people of Gadchiroli and Chandrapur, focusing on national development and local constituency issues. He criticized the lack of development work during the tenure of the late Congress MP, Balu Dhanorkar.

Maharashtra holds 48 Lok Sabha seats, making it the second-largest state in terms of parliamentary representation after Uttar Pradesh. In the 2019 elections, the BJP won 23 out of the 25 seats it contested in partnership with Shiv Sena. The upcoming elections in Maharashtra will be conducted in five phases on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, and May 20.
