Sam Pitroda Raises Concerns Over EVMs and Ram Mandir Politics, BJP Responds with Criticism
Congress leader Sam Pitroda expressed concerns about Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and suggested that if they are not fixed, the BJP led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi could win 400 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Pitroda clarified that his comments on the Ram Mandir issue were "twisted," emphasizing that religion should not be complicated by politics. He called for trust to be rebuilt and for the Election Commission to respond to the EVM concerns.
Opposition parties have previously alleged that EVMs are rigged in favor of the BJP, but the Election Commission has dismissed these claims. The BJP, in turn, has accused the opposition of using EVM issues as an excuse for their electoral losses. Pitroda urged PM Modi to focus on issues like employment, inflation, science, and technology.
Responding to criticisms of his remarks on the Ram Mandir, Pitroda defended his position, stating that religion is a personal matter and should not be the main platform in politics. He emphasized that PM Modi should be everyone's Prime Minister, addressing broader issues that concern the people of India.
The BJP countered Pitroda's statements, asserting that he represents the thinking of Rahul Gandhi, the former Congress President. BJP MP Rajeev Chandrashekhar criticized Pitroda for downplaying the importance of Hindutva, terrorism, inflation, corruption, and Hindu faith, attributing these views to Rahul Gandhi's influence.
