Ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor highlighted areas where the Congress lags behind the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Speaking at ABP Network's 'Ideas of India' Summit 3.0, Tharoor acknowledged that the BJP has excelled in the crucial aspect of directly engaging with voters, employing tactics like the "panna prabhari system" and effectively reaching every household. He emphasized that while politics revolves around ideas, policies, and their delivery to the electorate, the BJP has demonstrated superior efficiency in executing grassroots outreach efforts, alongside benefiting from substantial financial backing.

Tharoor also pointed out that the BJP's electoral success in 2019 might be challenging to replicate, suggesting a potential decline in performance in the upcoming elections, especially as certain states may show signs of saturation.

Highlighting the opposition's advantage in countering the BJP's perceived complacency, Tharoor underscored the importance of vigilance and readiness among political adversaries. Conversely, BJP MP Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, part of the discussion panel, expressed his party's ambitious target of securing 370 seats in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.
