Shiv Sena MP Urgently Appeals to Amit Shah Over Worsening Law and Order Situation in Maharashtra

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has urgently appealed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to address the worsening law and order situation in Maharashtra following the recent murder of a party leader in Mumbai. In her letter dated February 9, Chaturvedi highlighted the killing of local Sena (UBT) leader Abhishek Ghosalkar on February 8 and an incident earlier this month where a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA fired shots inside a police station in Thane district.

Chaturvedi emphasized the urgent need for intervention before irreversible damage is done to the state's residents. She lamented the transformation of Mumbai, once celebrated for its bustling trade and commerce, into a city plagued by rising crime, violence, and gunfire. She expressed grave concern over the widespread use of firearms to instill fear among innocent civilians and public figures, which has created a perpetual atmosphere of anxiety and insecurity in the state.

The tragic incident involving former corporator Abhishek Ghosalkar, who was fatally shot during a Facebook Live session by local businessman and social activist Mauris Noronha, further underscores the severity of the situation. Noronha subsequently took his own life, as confirmed by the police. Additionally, Chaturvedi referenced the February 2 shooting at a police station in Ulhasnagar, where BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad injured a local Shiv Sena leader amid a land dispute and political rivalry led by Eknath Shinde.
