Shiv Sena UBT Assigns New Role to Disgruntled Ambadas Danve; Chitra Wagh's Criticism of Congress' Chandrapur Candidate

BJP leader Chitra Wagh taking potshots on Congress’ Chandrapur candidate Pratibha Dhanorkar over her late husband’s alleged liquor business has drawn criticism from her former colleagues from NCP

Sena UBT has assigned a new role to an upset Ambadas Danve, Shiv Sena UBT MLC and opposition leader in the state legislative council. Reports suggested Danve's disappointment at not receiving a Lok Sabha nomination from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. He has now been tasked with overseeing party campaigns in the Marathwada region alongside Chandrakant Khaire, the party’s candidate from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. This move, aimed at giving Danve equal standing with Khaire, has caused discontent among Danve and his supporters.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Chitra Wagh's criticism of Congress’ Chandrapur candidate Pratibha Dhanorkar regarding her late husband’s alleged involvement in the liquor business has sparked controversy. This led to exchanges on social media and drew criticism from Wagh's former colleagues in the NCP. Wagh's visit to Chandrapur for damage control following alleged objectionable comments by BJP candidate Sudhir Mungantiwar appears to have exacerbated the situation for the party.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, campaigning in Nagpur for Congress candidate Vikas Thakre, emphasized that the 2024 Lok Sabha elections are not merely against Prime Minister Narendra Modi but against the "Manuwadi" ideology of the ruling dispensation. Kharge stated that the Congress is fighting to protect Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Constitution, which safeguards the rights of 140 crore Indians. He warned that a victory for the RSS-BJP alliance would endanger future elections.

In other news, Shiv Sena’s Kiran Samant met Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Nagpur. Kiran Samant, the brother of Shiv Sena's state industries minister Uday Samant, is eyeing the Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg Lok Sabha seat, where the BJP is advocating for Union Minister Narayan Rane’s candidacy. Kiran Samant's meeting with Fadnavis appears to be an attempt to persuade him regarding the candidacy for the Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg seat.
