Suryakumar Yadav Set to Return to Mumbai Indians for IPL 2024 After Injury Layoff

Suryakumar Yadav is poised to make his return to the Mumbai Indians squad in the upcoming IPL 2024 season. According to reports from Cricbuzz, he has received clearance from the National Cricket Academy and is expected to join the team on Friday, April 4.

The top-ranked T20I batter was last seen in action in December 2023, where he impressed with a century in the third T20I against South Africa. However, his participation was cut short due to a grade 2 ankle tear that required surgery. Subsequently, he underwent an operation for a sports hernia, extending his recovery period as he underwent rehabilitation at the NCA facility in Bengaluru.

The 33-year-old will rejoin the team during their practice session at the Wankhede Stadium as they gear up for their upcoming home game against Delhi Capitals on April 7. His fitness will be assessed during the net session, after which the team management will make a decision regarding his participation

Mumbai Indians have had a challenging start to the season, suffering three consecutive losses under new captain Hardik Pandya. The team faced defeats against Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad in home matches, followed by another loss to Rajasthan Royals earlier this week.
