T20 World Cup: Yuvraj Singh Reveals Why He Prefers Rishabh Pant Over Sanju Samson in the Playing XI.

Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant have both been chosen as wicketkeepers for India’s squad in the upcoming T20 World Cup to be held in the West Indies and the USA. Samson has demonstrated remarkable consistency and prowess in the IPL, scoring 521 runs at an impressive average of 52.10 and a striking rate of 155.52 for the Rajasthan Royals. On the other hand, Pant has also been performing well, amassing 446 runs at an average of 40.55 with a strike rate of 155.40 while captaining the Delhi Capitals. Despite the stellar performances from both players, the team composition allows for only one of them to be included in the playing XI.

Former Indian cricketing legend Yuvraj Singh recently weighed in on this selection dilemma, expressing his preference for Rishabh Pant over Sanju Samson. In an interview with the ICC, Yuvraj elaborated on his choice, saying, "I’d probably go for Rishabh. Sanju is also in great form, but Rishabh is a left-hander." He underscored Pant’s potential to be a decisive factor in matches, highlighting his past achievements in clinching victories for India, particularly in the Test arena. Yuvraj pointed out that Pant’s left-handedness adds a strategic advantage, and he believes that Pant possesses the match-winning capabilities necessary for high-stakes games. According to Yuvraj, Pant’s experience and proven track record on significant occasions make him an invaluable player who can turn the tide in India’s favor during crucial moments. Thus, Yuvraj’s endorsement of Pant over Samson is rooted in a belief in Pant’s exceptional talent and his potential to shine on the biggest stage.
