The Maval contest aims to determine the authentic Sena leadership.

Maval battle is not just to become Member of Parliament but also to check on whose side the voters are and which among the two contenders they think is the real Shiv Sena

Around 15 years ago, Maval constituency was formed during delimitation. Initially, Shiv Sena, in alliance with BJP, won elections here from 2009 to 2019. Now, there are two factions within Shiv Sena, led by Eknath Shinde and Uddhav Thackeray respectively, with their candidates contesting for the seat.

The current MP, Shrirang Barne, aligned with Shinde, seeks a third term. He faces Sanjog Waghere from Thackeray's faction. Barne enjoys support from parts of Raigad district, while Waghere emphasizes the emotional connection with Uddhav Thackeray's Sena.

The constituency faces issues like industrial shifts causing job concerns, stalled development projects, and environmental challenges. Residents demand better infrastructure, water management, and pollution control.

Waghere highlights Sena's historical support, promising development. Barne emphasizes Modi government's work and upcoming projects for the area. Observers suggest Mahayuti has an edge due to existing networks and less intense competition compared to previous elections.
