Two tempo drivers die in separate hit-and-run incidents in Navi Mumbai

Two individuals were killed in separate hit-and-run incidents in Navi Mumbai. In the first incident, a tempo driver, Dinesh Kashiram Sena, 37, from Madhya Pradesh, was run over by another tempo driver who lost control of his vehicle while Sena was resting in front of his parked tempo after unloading potatoes at the APMC market around 8 pm. The driver responsible for the accident fled the scene, and the police are seeking information from the tempo owner to identify the absconding driver, according to an officer from the APMC police station.

In the second incident, Akhilesh Nandlal Kumar, 31, a tempo driver from MIDC Taloja, was hit by an unidentified vehicle while walking home on the Shil Phata-Panvel Highway. A passerby reported the incident to Kalamboli police around 11:30 pm, finding Kumar bleeding heavily on the road. Kumar was taken to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The police are reviewing CCTV footage to trace the vehicle and the driver who fled the scene, stated an officer from Kalamboli police station.

Both cases have led the police to charge the drivers involved with causing death by negligence and rash driving, under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act.
